Over the years, I’ve worn a few different hats—student, researcher, volunteer, and counselor—but the work has had a consistent goal: to help people feel safer, function better, and stay connected to supports that actually fit their lives.
At Elwyn Outpatient Services, my primary role is individual therapy with adolescents and young adults navigating depression, trauma, and complex needs. Here, I practice building a strong therapeutic alliance, staying organized with documentation and care coordination, and making treatment plans realistic and collaborative. Working in a community setting, I’ve become more comfortable with higher-acuity work through ongoing risk assessment, safety planning, and close supervision. In addition, I lead groups within Elwyn’s New Vison program (a bi-weekly intensive day program serving clients with severe mental disorders, including schizoaffective disorder and IDD), and I’ve also shadowedspecialized DBT groups.
Before Elwyn, I completed my practicum at Creative Health Services, which also helped shape my outpatient foundation through biopsychosocial intakes, treatment planning, and weekly therapy with children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing mood disorders and neurodevelopmental difficulties. That year taught me how to apply evidence-based work developmentally appropriately across different ages and levels of readiness.
Earlier training in Psychiatric Hospitals shaped how I think about stabilization and continuity of care. At Guangzhou Baiyun Psychological Hospital (Adolescent & SUD Unit), I supported individual sessions and led psychoeducation and recovery-oriented groups focused on coping skills and relapse prevention. At ZhuZhou Third Hospital (adolescent psychosomatic rehabilitation) and ZhuZhou 331 Hospital (clinical psychiatry outpatient), I learned how assessment tools and medication planning often intersect with psychotherapy—especially when symptom severity and risk are central.
Alongside this work, I’ve volunteered as a Crisis Counselor with the Crisis Text Line since 2023.
Every day is different, and every client teaches me something new.
